The Scientific Programme

The scientific programme will include:

• Pre-conference computer workshop (Click here for more information)
  This hands-on workshop is aimed at novice computer users, focusing on the skills to use collaboration tools, Equation Editor and spreadsheets in the teaching of mathematics. The workshop will run from 10:00 to 16:00.

• Plenary addresses by invited speakers

• Panel discussions on various themes:

  • Panel 1: Living in the world of numbers – being mathematically literate  

  • Panel 2: Large-scale assessments in Mathematics Education

• Parallel sessions presented by participants. The parallel sessions will be structured according to the Foundation Phase, Intermediate Phase, Senior Phase, FET, Tertiary/Inset, and ABET in the following formats:

  • Long papers (40 minutes plus 20 minutes discussion) See abstracts

  • Short papers (20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion) See abstracts

  • How I teach sessions (20 minutes plus 10 minutes discussion) See list

  • 1 hour Workshops and 2 hour workshops

• Activity centre
  Participants will participate in practical activities that provides opportunities for learners to gain knowledge that will enhance concept formation.
